Old High School buddies!!!Gosh! What a shock!! I don't know quite what to say?! I knew Carlton fairly well in high school! There were several of us "pals" who hung around together at Glass! Charles Taylor, Mary Arwood, J.T. Thornhill(or should I call him Doctor Thornhill, as he rightly should be called now!), Eileen Casey, Chris Belcher, and I'm sure I'm probalby leaving someone out?!! Wow! We had so many good times together! Carlton and Charles were always "clowning around". To be around the 2 of them, it was hard not to be happy. They would keep you in stitches, laughing! Carlton was a great friend, will be sorely missed by all who knew him. It's hard to believe he's gone? And so young! My heart and soul pours out to all Carlton's family and friends! Especially, Elizabeth! Elizabeth, I'm sure you don't remember me...you were a few years ahead of us, but I do remember you fondly. Please know that my thougts and prayers are with you!! I too had a very sudden loss in 2006. I lost my husband to a heart attack at work. If it's any solace, it will get easier..with time. Time will heal. It won't ever go away, but your loss will get easier. Sincerely, and with lots of love, Cathy

Any one who ever met Carlton will never forget him. I haven't seen him in about ten years, but we would occasionally exchange letters or catch up on the phone. I still laugh when I think of Carlton doing his Katherine Hepburn impression, or countless other moments of hilarity. But aside from the humor, Carlton made a profound difference in the lives of so many children when he pursued his dream of being a teacher. To Elizabeth and her family, I offer my deepest sympathies and share their sorrow.

Carlton was an amazing teacher, and I know his students loved him. I am sure that there are many children in Richmond, New York, and New Jersey who can say that he truly changed their lives. His sudden passing has left holes in many lives. I have good memories of him and am grateful for the time we had with him. My thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Kelly (who was my first grade teacher), her family, and all those who are missing him. May God's love and peace bring you comfort in this time of sorrow.

He will be missedOur deepest sympathies to his sister and family. He was such a bright little light on earth! I met him through my good friend Francie back in Richmond. The last time I saw him face to face was when he was in San Francisco for our wedding reception. I was so happy that he thought enough of us to make the trek all the way out here from NYC. And of course, what is a party without Carlton! At the party, my 6 year old niece thought he was the best too- he had such a great rapport with children. To say he will be missed is an understatement. To all his friends, of whom there were so many, our thoughts and prayers go out to you.

childhood friendI grew up down the street from Carlton. I have pleasant memories of the neighborhood kids gathered around Carlton on Summer nights listening to him intently as he told us stories. One time he told me that bats flying at night often get caught in little girls' long hair. I ran home with a jacket over my head - a little scared, but laughing the whole way. He was a fun kid to know. My sincere condolences go to his family and friends.

What a sweet man!Dear Candler Family and Friends: We had the privilege of knowing Carlton for only a few short years while we were at Fort Lee (Lee Playhouse). Upon meeting him, we all felt like we had been friends for years. He was so warm and made us smile lots and lots. It is not a time to mourn but a time to celebrate his life. God bless his family and friends.
