Obituary of James Edward Fraley

James Edward Fraley, 71, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of Kathy Ann Fraley.

Born March 30, 1947 in Clifton, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Paul Clifford and Louise Fraley. He was a graduate of Clifton High School, Rutgers University with a B.A. in Physics and later a B.S. and Master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of South Carolina. He was a retired mechanical engineer with various companies throughout his career and lastly with Wegman USA in Lynchburg.  Jim enjoyed square dancing, round dancing, hiking and was an accomplished bridge player. He loved to sing and enjoyed music in general.

In addition to his wife Kathy, he is survived by two sons, “A.J” Alexander James Fraley and his wife Emily of Charlottesville, VA and Eric Louis Fraley of Oregon; one brother, Paul C. Fraley, Jr. of Delanson, NY. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois F. Hener.

A memorial service will be held Monday, May 14, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Westminister-Canterbury, 501 V.E.S. Road , Lynchburg, VA with Chaplain Kristie Miles and the Rev. Dr. Paul Baker officiating. A reception will be held immediately after the service in the Commons.

 In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The ALS Association, 1275 K Street NW- Suite 250, Washington, DC 20005 or Heritage United Methodist Church, 582 Leesville Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24502.
