Obituary of Edward Witt

Edward Rucker Witt, Sr., 86, of Lynchburg died Monday, September 22, 2008 in Medical Care Center. He was the husband of Dean Reynolds Witt. Born September 24, 1921 in Lynchburg he was a son of the late Sandy Banks and Virgie Mae Hogan Witt. He was a retired employee of JC Penny, Inc. and a member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Cecil Witt, Carlton Witt, Howard Witt, Lewis Witt and Thurman Witt. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Edward Rucker Witt, Jr. and wife Elizabeth Carey Witt of Forest, his daughter, Deborah W. Tilson and husband William of Gainsville, FL, his sister, Virginia W. McQuarry of Lynchburg and four grandchildren, Anne Carter Witt of Ashville, NC, Edward R. Witt, III of Forest, Jennifer L. Tilson and husband David Speigleman of Oakland, CA and Sarah Ann Tilson of Bloomington, IN. A graveside service will be held Friday, 11:00 am in Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Randy Bower officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-8:30 pm at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel.
