I am saddened at the loss of Jim Swisher. A highly successful educator on all levels, he never forgot his roots and always treated everyone with great respect. Jim touched the lives of many students, colleagues, and friends. Through my years with the Lynchburg School System, I had several opportunities to work with Jim. I cannot speak for others, but I'm thankful, he came my way--I'll never forget. Penny and family, losing a loved one is never easy, but we all know your husband, Dad, and our friend is in a better place. No more pain, no more frustration--just the glorious ever after. There will always be a hole in our hearts. Suzan & Dave Bryan

Our friend and compatriotPenny and family: The Garland-Rodes Camp No. 409, Sons of Confederate Veterans mourns the loss of our friend and compatriot. Jim was a special person who shared with us his love of history and reverence for the sacrifices made by our ancestors for our country. He will be missed by us all and we offer our sincere condolence to you. May we so prepare for that hour that every one of us may by God's grace and love be ready to cross over the river and join Jim in the final bivouac.
