Obituary of James Smith
James Monroe Smith, 87, of Evington died Sunday March 1, 2009 at the
home of his son in Woodbine, Md. Born in Eolia, Ky on April 15, 1921 he was a
son of the late Litton Isom Smith and Ollie Caudill Smith Belcher and was the widower
of Florence Wilson Smith.
Mr. Smith was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served his country
during WW II.
He was a member of Timberlake
United Methodist
Church and was the owner and
operator of the Smith Furniture Shop.
Mr. Smith was a loving and caring husband, father and
brother. He is survived by his son, James Michael Smith and his wife, Faye
Jungsoon of Woodbine, MD. A granddaughter, Angela Smith of Blacksburg.
Two sisters, Mae Smith Waters of Madison Heights and Billie Brumfield and her husband Carroll of
Forest. A brother, Frank F. Smith of Madison Heights.
A Celebration of James' Life will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday,
March 5, 2009 at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. Rob Colwell
officiating. Interment will follow in Fort
Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 PM Wednesday, March 5, 2009 at the
funeral Home.
