Obituary of Katherine Holmes

Katherine MacKenzie Holmes, 82, of Lynchburg died Tuesday March 3, 2009 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born in Boston, MA on May 30, 1926 she was a daughter of the late Alexander F. MacKenzie and Nellie MacIver Mackenzie and was the widow of John M. Holmes. Mrs. Holmes was a secretary in the Biology Department at Lynchburg College and was a member of Memorial Christian Church. She is survived by three daughters, Christine H. Powell and her husband, Gregory of Lynchburg, Linda H. Dossett and her husband Mitchell of Stafford, Va. and Jean H. Bachovchin and her husband, William of Boston, MA. Two grandsons, Christopher and Daniel Bachovchin. A sister, Evelyn P. Fitzpatrick and her husband, James of York, ME. A Celebration of Katherine's Life and Faith will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, March 6, 2009 at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. Virgil Knipp and the Rev. Sue Knipp officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
