Obituary of Beverly Buchanan

Beverly Byers Buchanan, 51, of Lynchburg, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009, in Lynchburg General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Brad Buchanan. Born, April 9, 1958 in Bedford, she was a daughter of Daisy Goff Byers and the late John Byers. She was a graduate of Jefferson Forest High School in Bedford County and was employed as a secretary in the nursing program with Liberty University and attended Blue Ridge Community Church. She was also a student at Liberty, majoring in accounting. Beverly was scheduled to graduate this fall along with her daughter, Briana. In addition to her husband Brad, she is survived by her children, Briana, Jenny and Jamie Buchanan; her mother, Daisy Goff Byers of Forest; three bothers, her twin, Bennie, Jimmy Byers and his wife Darnell, Gary Byers and his wife Sherry; one sister, Valerie Tomlinson and her husband Glenn; in-laws, John and Dara Buchanan; a host of uncles , aunts, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses with the oncology department of Lynchburg General Hospital and Dr. Dwight Oldham for their kind efforts during this time. Also, all of the staff at Liberty University?s Nursing Department. Jonathan Falwell and Rev. David Heerspink officiating. Interment will follow in Hunting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Big Island. A luncheon will be served at the Brookville-Timberlake Fire Station ( Waterlick Rd.) after the burial. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Diuguid Funeral Service-Waterlick Chapel (237-2722 ) is serving the family.
