Obituary of Mavis White

Mavis Goad White, 84, of Lynchburg died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 she was the wife of the late William Otis White. They were married for 64 years. Born in Lynchburg April 14, 1925, She was the daughter of the late Ollie V. Goad and Myrtle Campbell Goad Kelly of Lynchburg. As an accomplished musician, she had served as organist and choir director at Fairview United Methodist Church, College Hill Baptist Church and was a member of Peakland United Methodist Church. She was also active in various clubs including the Fort Hill Women?s Club, Suburban Women?s Club, Lynchburg Women?s Club, American Guild of Organists, Peakland Garden Club and Oakwood Garden Club. She is survived by two children, David V. White of Lynchburg and Beverly White and her husband, Dennis R. Roberts of Tyro. Two grandsons, W. Houston Roberts and Hampton W. Roberts of Tyro. A sister, Charlotte Ivey of Richmond. A brother, Rev. Dr. Ollie Vincent Goad of Michigan. A graveside service will be held in Fort Hill Memorial Park Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 4:00 PM with the Rev.
