Obituary of Ruth Arthur

Ruth Vest Arthur Ruth Vest Arthur, 88, of Lynchburg passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009 in The Summit. She was the wife of the late Robert Thomas Arthur. Born May 21, 1921 in Lexington she was a daughter of the late Obie and Lillian Dooley Vest. She was a retired employee of Craddock-Terry Shoe Corporation. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Faye A. Hall and two half sisters, Della Mae Carter and Bernice Vest. Ruth is survived by three children, Robert W. Arthur of Buncomb, IL, Priscilla A. Tyree and husband O.T. and Vickie Arthur Thompson and husband Tony all of Lynchburg; a sister, Della V. Gurley of Buncomb; 10 grandchildren, Donnie M. Gilbert, Jr., Mark W. Gilbert, Chris E. Tyree, Kaleena M. Thompson, Olivia R. Thompson, Robbie Arthur, Melissa Riley, Kim Whatley, Kim Hall, Melissa Hartman and 20 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Friday, 1:00 pm at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. Michael Dodson, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-8:30 pm at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff and her many friends at the Summit for the love and care she received.
