Obituary of Ida Irby Sims

Ida Mae Irby Sims Ida Mae Irby Sims, 80, of Goode passed away Sunday, December 13, 2009 in The Summit. She was the wife of the late Edward Milton Sims, Sr. Born January 7, 1929 in Appomattox she was a daughter of the late Daniel Bunyan Irby, Sr. and Gracie Elder Irby. Ida Mae was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing and bird watching. She was a retired employee of General Electric and a member of Terrace View Baptist Church. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel B. Irby, Jr.; sister, Anna I. Malcolm and two grandsons, Mathew and Timothy Sims. She is survived by four children, Edward Milton Sims, Jr. and wife Juanita of Forest, Brenda S. Wieringo and husband Eddie of Lynchburg, Debbie S. DeJarnette and husband Junior of Forest and Ernest D. Sims and wife Joyce of Goode; 6 grandchildren, Joshua Sims and wife Michelle, April, Shannon and Kristen Sims, Daniel DeJarnette and wife B. J. and Michael Wieringo; 5 great grandchildren, Jacob Campbell DeJarnette, Peyton Myers, Maggie C. Keys, Madison and Allison Sims; 5 sisters, Christine Davis Browning of Appomattox, Pearl I. Britton of Gladys, Violet I. Rowland of Gretna, Joyce I. Childers of Panama City, Fl. and Gaynell I. Williams of Shreveport, La. and special friends and caregivers, Bess Lewis and Pat Williams. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, 2:00 pm in Terrace View Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Hamilton officiating. The family will receive friends today, Tuesday from 7-8:30 pm at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel. The family wishes to thank the staff of The Town Square Floor at The Summit and Hospice of The Hills for their wonderful and loving care.
