Obituary of Aubrey Slade

Aubrey ?Al? Allen Slade, 84, of Lynchburg, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Virginia Baptist Hospital after an extended illness. He was the husband of Stella Ferguson Slade. Born October 7, 1925 in Thomasville, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Edgar and Mary Slade. He was a retired building contractor and member of Keystone Baptist Church. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post-16 in Lynchburg. In addition to his wife, Stella, he is survived by one step-son, Tom Taylor and his wife Tara of Anniston, AL; a step-daughter, Debi Adams and her husband Ron of Lynchburg; and his very special granddaughter, Alexis Adams ; his twin sister, Audrey Willis and her husband Paul of Sterling, VA. and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Al?s life and faith will be held Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. Monty Fox officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, December 25, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fort Hill Memorial Park with military honors by American Legion ?Post 16. Memorial contributions may be made to Keystone Baptist Church-Building Fund, 212 Keystone Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24501. Diuguid Funeral Service-Waterlick Chapel (237-2722 ) is serving the family.
