Libba, we met at the Gridiron Greats HOF induction last year and I was happy to talk with Bill as he befriended both Bob Mann and I in "Situations" with Coach Bo McMillin, and Bill's word was "Law". I have asked ALL members of the NFL to pause and say "Thanks Bill Dudley" for today's "diversity" would never have been without the blessing and courage that Bill invoked into "critical situations". Tell your family that SuperBowls pale in comparison to what Bill did for the NFL,and I speak for Em Tunnel, Mel Groomes and Bob Mann, Thank You Bill.

Mrs. Dudley and the Dudley Family ...
It is with deepest regrets that I have learned of Bill's passing.
He was a true gentleman who was greatly admired and respected both on and off the field, and who helped make professional football the great sport that it is today.
It was the Lions' honor to host Mr. and Mrs. Dudley at a game at Ford Field this past season.
On behalf of the William Clay Ford family and the Detroit Lions, please accept our deepest sympathies.

My Father always said he was the greatest football player he ever saw. He watched pro football for 50 years. I met Bill at a card signing event in Pittsburgh. I got to tell him that. He thanked me for sharing that comment with him. A great Steeler player and personality. May God Bless Him.

My heartfelt sympathy to the Dudley family. My 69-year-old father, a resident of Staunton and also a gradute of Virginia ('62), also had a massive stroke on Saturday, and died Monday. As in your case, my father's stroke was sudden, unexpected and a complete shock. May you find strength from friends and family, peace from memories of times together, and hope in the knowledge that you'll someday be together again.

Dear Libba,
Bill, as you know the best, lived his life to the fullest and his warm spirit was felt by all who not only knew him but everyone he came in contact with; he is missed. Bill never met a stranger and he was absolutely "real". His passing is a great loss however his legacy will live on. His presence will continue to linger among us through the light he left behind. Our earthly loss was Heavens gain as the Lord is pleased with the beautiful 88 years Bill gave to all; our lives are blessed to have had him in it. Our family will mourn this loss and remember all the time spent together, conversations, smiles and hugs.
