Obituary of Vernard Chenault

Vernard Muriel Chenault, 80, of Forest, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2010 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Iris Chenault for 62 years. Born January 23, 1930, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late James Carthin and Avis Maddox Chenault. He was retired bookkeeper/treasurer from Cleland Company and later Wooldridge Heating and Air. He was a member of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church, where he proudly served as an usher for many years. He also coached the ?Babe Ruth? Little League in Lynchburg. In addition to his wife Iris, he is survived by one son, Michael ?Mike? Chenault and his wife Dana of Evington; three daughters, Valerie C. Witt and her husband Robert( ?Pete?), Belinda C. Harris , Julie C. Allsep and her husband Tim , all of Forest; one sister, Myrna Woodall and her husband ,Lyle, of Hampton, VA; eleven grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Adam Wright. A celebration of Vernard?s life and faith will be held Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Becky Cloud officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Diuguid Wiggington Road Chapel ( 811 Wiggington Rd. ) and at the residence at all other times.. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Greater Blue Ridge Chapter, 3959 Electric Rd., # 222, Roanoke, VA 24018 or Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church, 4660 Fort Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24502. Diuguid Funeral Service & Crematory-Wiggington Road Chapel (385-8900 m) is serving the family.
