Obituary of Joyce Driscoll

Joyce Lee Driscoll, of Lynchburg, passed away Friday, March 5, 2010 in Lynchburg General Hospital. Twice married, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Cleland Maddox, in 1951 and her second husband, John Driscoll, in 1999. Born August 12, 1929, in Phenix, Va, she was the daughter of the late James L. Tucker and Nellie Mason Ayers. She was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School , where she was a drum majorette, and later graduated from the Mayflower Beauty School and was a retired hairdresser. Joyce was a member of Rivermont Ave. Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Sandra L. West; two sons, David Driscoll and Johnny Driscoll all of Lynchburg and one brother, Richard M. Ayres, of Forest; three grandchildren, Tanya Rees ( Kenny), William Glenn West, Jr. and Terry Lee West ( Crystal ). A funeral service will be held Monday, March 8, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Rivermont Ave. Baptist Church with the Rev Dr. Tom McCann officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at Diuguid Wiggington Road Chapel. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Rivermont Ave. Baptist Church, 1301 Rivermont Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24504 or the Leukemia Society, 5511 Staples Mill Rd., Suite 202B, Richmond, VA 23228.
