Obituary of Robert Sutton

Robert Wayne Sutton was called home to be with his Lord and heavenly family after a short illness on Thursday March 25, 2010. ?Bob? as he was known, was born May 2, 1944, in Hampton, Virginia. He is survived by his loving wife, Bettie May Sutton. He was the son of the late Iola Schrader Sutton Masters and LaMar Sparkman Sutton. His step-father was the late Henry Masters, whom Bob loved very much. Bob had a beloved son, Jason Patrick Sutton, of Lynchburg and Jeffrey Howard Bond and his wife Sara of Madison Heights were loved by him as if they were his own children. Bob had two granddaughters, Hailey Danielle Tinsley and Trissten Lee Gallier . Bob was employed for 45 years by the Virginia Department of Transportation, and he retired as the Resident Engineer of Bedford County in January 2009. Bob was a member of Timberlake United Methodist Church. Bob honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Bob was an avid hunter, enjoying many hours in the woods with his brother- in-law Wyatt Stinson and his great-nephew, Andrew Boydoh. He also had many dear friends who shared his love of boating. He considered all of them his family. Bob spent many enjoyable weekends fishing and boating at Smith Mountain Lake. He loved cooking and throwing big parties on the dock for all his friends. He enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together. He could fix anything. He tackled any job. Bob liked to watch football and NASCAR and his favorite driver was Tony Stewart. Bob had one adored and loved poodle, Jasmine. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m., today, March 27, 2010 at the Diuguid Wiggington Road Chapel with Daniel B. Sweeney officiating. Interment will follow at the Fort Hill Memorial. A reception will be held to celebrate Bob?s life at 4:30 p.m. at Charley?s Restaurant, 707 Graves Mill Road, Lynchburg.
