Obituary of James Jordan

James ? Jimmy ? Walker Jordan, 60, of Forest, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Judy Daniel Jordan of 36 years. Born February 8, 1950, in Lynchburg, VA , he was a son of the late Samuel W. Jordan. He was raised by his uncle and aunt Billy and Lurlee Slate. Jimmy was a regional sales manager with VF Image Wear and a member of Beulah Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and served as a deacon. He also was ?Pastor at Large? at Avante? Nursing Home. Jimmy was an avid golfer and also loved to fish. He was also a true VA Tech Hokie fan. Jimmy especially loved spending time with his beautiful grandchildren and working in his well kept yard . He proudly served our country during Viet Nam in the U.S. Navy and received the purple heart award for his brave service. In addition to his wife, Judy, he is survived by his uncle and aunt that raised him, Billy and Lurlee Slate; three sons, Chad Jordan , and his wife, Amy, of Nashville, TN, Cliff Jordan and his wife April of Richmond, VA and Cole Jordan of Lynchburg; one brother, Ted Jordan of Lynchburg and one sister Vickie Jordan of Las Vegas, NV ; four grandchildren, Macie, Aubrie, Walker and Ashlyn Jordan . A celebration of Jimmy?s life and faith will be held Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Beulah Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Maurice McCarthy officiating and Pastor Cliff Jordan giving the eulogy. The family will receive friends Friday, May 7, 2010 at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel from 7-8:30 p.m. Burial will be in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery on Leesville Road. Military Honors will be provided by Lynchburg's American Legion - Post 16. Memorial contributions may be made to Movement Church, 10307 West Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23060, where his son, Cliff, is pastor. Diuguid Funeral Service-Waterlick Chapel ( 237-2722 ) is serving the family.
