Obituary of Michael Powers

Michael Dale Powers, 63, of Lynchburg and formerly of Colorado, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Dr. Patricia A. Powers. Born June 2, 1946 in Scottsburg, Indiana, he was the son of the late William Dale and Bette Pruitt Powers. After graduating from Cheyenne High School in Wyoming, he served in the U.S. Army in Panama. This was followed by a career with Xcel Energy in Denver, Co. After retiring, he became he became an avid gardner and enjoyed being outdoors. After settling in Lynchburg, Mike volunteered at The Old City Cemetery and at Virginia Baptist Hospital. Mike is survived by his wife, Patty and his sister, Shawna Boulden , and her husband, Barry, of Thornton, CO, and a host of other relatives and many friends. A celebration of Mike?s life and faith will be held Friday, May 21, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. at Diuguid Wiggington Road Chapel ( 811 Wiggington Rd. ) with Pastor Mark Fesmire officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.Military honors will be provided by American Legion ?Post 16.
