Marcelle Adrienne Meyer A tireless worker, dedicated to the medical profession and to aiding the less fortunate, our mother and grandmother, Marcelle Meyer, passed on June 15, 2010 in Lynchburg, VA, just days before celebrating her 91st Birthday. Born in Les Baties (Haute Saone) France on June 26, 1919, daughter of Henri Baudin and Marie Coutret, she immigrated to the United States in 1948 after her post War marriage to Henry Meyer Jr. Mrs. Meyer, a long time resident of Ogden, Utah, began a thirty three year nursing career in October 1951 at the Thomas Dee Memorial Hospital and continuing at the successor facility, the McKay Dee Memorial Hospital in Ogden, retiring in December 1984. She continued her service to the McKay as a volunteer after her retirement. A faithful member of St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Ogden, Mrs. Meyer was an active volunteer in a variety of Catholic Charitable endeavors and she assisted with Sunday services. She received a number of recognitions for her volunteer efforts and was the recipient of the Utah Governors award for Outstanding Volunteer. Mrs. Meyer was also selected as Weber County Ms. Senior Citizen for her volunteer work. Mrs. Meyer moved to Commerce City, Colorado in 1994, where she continued her volunteer efforts by participating in various Commerce City church sponsored charitable projects and she was a volunteer at the Commerce City Senior Center until August 2004. During her time as a Commerce City Volunteer she received a number of commendations and was honored to be selected Volunteer of the Year. Mrs. Meyer moved to Lynchburg, VA in 2004 in ill health and where she became a PACE participant. Mrs. Meyer was preceded in death by her husband, her sister, and two brothers. She is survived by her son, Patrick Henry Meyer of Denver, Co, her daughter Liane Benway of Lynchburg, VA, her grand children, Tamara Meyer-Edwards of Reno, NV. John M. Benway of Everett, WA, Michele Linn of Henderson, KY and Ryan Benway of Lynchburg, VA. Mrs. Meyer has four Great Grandchildren, Carmen and Brittany Benway of Seattle, WA and Mathew and Nicholas Linn of Henderson, KY. She has two great great grand children, Jaime Edwards of Reno, Nevada and Kayden O?Connell of Seattle, WA . The will be no funeral services. Memorial masses will be held in Ogden, Utah and at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church in Lynchburg, VA. Tuesday June 22, 2010 at 500 PM ?.. In lieu of flowers the family requests a note of thank you or gift for your favorite caregiver in memory of Marcelle.
