Obituary of Robert Snead

Robert Walsa Snead, 84, of Lynchburg, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the Summit after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Worley Snead and is survived by his present wife, Joyce Snead. Born May 26, 1926 in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late William Andrew and Mildred Callaham Snead. He was a member of Fairview Christian Church and a retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He proudly served our country in the U. S. Army during WW II. In addition to his wife, Joyce, he is survived by his son, Robert Wayne Snead of Forest; his daughter, Patricia S. Thomas, and her husband, Leon, of Forest; his step-son, David Hodges, and his wife, Valerie, of Brandon, FL, his two step-daughter?s, Kim Brooks, and her husband, David, of Rustburg and Lisa Moser and her husband Kevin, of Lynchburg.; two brothers, Elmore Snead and his wife, Brenda of Raleigh, NC, Ellis Snead and his wife Jean of Pungo, VA; one sister, Martha Ann Tuggle and her husband Claude , of Forest; his sister-in-law, Anne Snead and his dog ?Woff Woff?. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Andrew Davis Snead. A celebration of Roberts life and faith will be held Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. Jack Hamilton officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
