Obituary of Richard Davis

Richard Edward Davis, 67, of Martinsville and formerly of Lynchburg, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Martinsville Memorial Hospital. Born June 13, 1943, in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Clarence Edward Davis and Alice J. Davis Lipscomb. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Frank L. Davis of Rustburg. Richard was a retired long haul truck driver and of the Baptist faith. He is survived by three sons, Richard E. Davis, II and wife, Cristy, of Lynchburg, Keith A. Davis of Lynchburg and Raymond E. Davis And wife, Sharon, of Rustburg; one daughter, Tammy Davis Day of Lakeland, Fl.; his grandchildren, Melinda and Ashley Day, Sara and Alina Davis, Britaney , Elijah and Tosha Davis and Savannah Davis and one brother, Bobby R. Davis and wife, Debbie, of Forest. He is also survived by his former wife, Diane Long Davis. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the Tree of Life Cemetery, Altavista, with the Rev. Dan G. Mason officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-8:30 at the funeral home. Diuguid Funeral Service-Wiggington Road Chapel (385-8900) is serving the family.
