Obituary of Margaret Layne

Margaret (Maggie) Caloway Layne, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, July 26, 2010. Born October 8 , 1917 in Evington, Maggie was the daughter of the late James A. and Burtchell Pribble Layne. Maggie was retired from the Colonial Restaurant. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and the Salem Community Woman?s Club. Maggie is survived by one Brother, James (Jim Buck) Layne of Evington. Two sisters, Virginia L. Mason of Lynchburg and Lois (Ed) Mason of Forest. One sister in law, Merle Layne of Evington. Having no children of her own, her joy in life was loving her nieces and nephews. Mary (Ralph) Bennett, Alma Mason, Jane (bill) Tolley, Rose (Rudy) Cash, Steve Layne, Lou (Randy) Moses, Doris (Roy) Hall, Ann D. Mason, Eddie (Debbie) Layne, Barbara Plymale, Sandra (Dickie) Worley, Edward Mason and Christine (Greg) Borchers. Twenty Six great nieces and nephews and numerous great great nieces and nephews and one great great great nephew. In addition to her parents, Maggie was preceded in death by one brother, Leverett Layne and one sister, Beatrice Irby Hall. A Celebration of Maggie?s Life and Faith will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles E. Schooler and the Rev. Stephen Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 AM until the time of the service and at other times at the home of her niece Doris (Roy) Hall, 5991 Colonial Hwy, Evington.
