Obituary of Wesley Irvan

Wesley Clarence Irvan, Jr. , 88, of Lynchburg, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2010 in Lynchburg Health & Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness. He was the husband of the late Mildred Wade Irvan for 67 years.. Born March 26, 1922 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Wesley Clarence and Mearl Williams Irvan. He was retired form Lynchburg Messenger Service and attended the Church of God of Prophecy. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy having served in China during World War II. He is survived by a daughter, Nellie Catlett and her husband, Vernon of Lynchburg; two son?s Clarence E. Irvan of Lynchburg and Wesley ?Buck? H. Irvan and his wife Flora of Richmond.; six grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brother?s, Lloyd G. Irvan and John Irvan and one grandson, Matthew Buckley Irvan. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM in Fort Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Gary Vernon officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 4-6- PM at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by American Legion-Post 16.
