Obituary of Edna Cline

Edna Mabe Cline, 94, of Rustburg and formerly of Carroll County passed away September 11, 2010 at Fairmont Crossing long term facility. Born January 17, 1916 to the late Charlie Thomas Mabe and Mary Jane Mabe. She was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and Campbell County Retired Teachers Association. Edna graduated from Coal Creek High School, Galax, VA. After graduating she continued her education at Appalachian State Teachers College, and University of Virginia where she received a Masters of Education. She taught for 34 years starting out in a one room school in Woodlawn, VA. After moving to Lynchburg she continued teaching at Forest Hill Elementary School then Brookville Elementary School and finished her teaching career at Altavista Elementary School. In addition to her parents Edna is preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Earl Cline; a son, Edgar Earl Cline; one daughter-in-law, Anita Burnette Cline; one brother, Edgar Mabe; six sisters, Lillie Cooley, Elva Mabe, Percy Stewart, Maggie Hill, Eloise Hanks and Martha Cole. She is survived by, one son, Thomas F. Cline, Sr. and his wife, Nancy of Rustburg; one daughter-in-law, Kay P. Cline of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Melissa Taylor and her husband, Kevin of Irmo, SC, Susan Icenhour and her husband, Chris of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Douglas Cline and his wife, Lisa of Manchester, MD and Thomas Cline, Jr. of Rustburg; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Bertie St. John and her husband, Harry L., Jr.;numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Edna?s Life and Faith will be conducted 10:00 AM Friday, September 17, 2010 at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with Rev. Dan Manley officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel, Timberlake Road, 237-2722 and other times at Thomas Sr.?s home on Browns Mill Road.
