Obituary of Wantena Mayberry

Wantena Powers Mayberry, 89, of Lynchburg, passed away Friday, December 3, 2010 at Lynchburg General Hospital after a brief illness. Born January 25, 1921, in Pound, VA, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Belva Baker Powers. She was a retired inspector with ATCO Products and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. She is survived by four children, Joseph W. Beverly (Liz) of Lynchburg, Cecelia H. Hudgens of Gladys, Juanita M. Holt (Glen) and Claude W. Mayberry (Nancy) all of Lynchburg ; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Monday, December 6, 2010 at 10:30 AM in Virginia Memorial Park with the Rev. Tom Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent to Bethany United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 12, Forest, VA 24551.
