Obituary of Barbara Green

Barbara Hanel Green, 81, of Lynchburg passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011. She was the widow of Thomas Edwin Green. Born November 9, 1929 in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Myrtle Cash Hanel . She was the former organist and choir director at Timberlake United Methodist Church and retired organist at Chestnut Bill Baptist Church , where she served, for many years and a member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church. She was involved with Job?s Daughters Bethel #36 of Lynchburg and served as the Bethel Guardian. She is survived by two daughters Kathy L. Green and Carol G. Shearer, both of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, Stacey Shearer and Peyton Shearer. She was preceded in death by one brother, Ben Hanel, Jr. and one sister, Carlene H. Knott. A celebration of Barbara?s life and faith will be held Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 2:00 PM at West Lynchburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Putt officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7-9 PM at the church. Interment will be in Fort Hill Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be sent to Eagle Ranch Children?s Home, P.O.
