Obituary of Willa Derbin

Willa Drinkard Derbin, 89, died Monday, February 14, 2011 at Lynchburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Appomattox, she was a daughter of the late James Berkley and Margaret littell Drinkard and was the wife of the late Jack Derbin. Mrs. Derbin was a retired bank teller for American Federal Savings and Loan and was a charter member of Timberlake Christian Church. She was a member of the Loyalty Club and the Order of Descendants of Ancient Planters. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Russell Jack and Mary Alice Derbin of Rustburg. A daughter and son-in-law, Willa Jean and Richard A. Coe of San Clemente, Ca. four grandchildren, Kimberly Adams, Jacqueline Towler, Jonathan and Jeremy Coe and one great grandchild, Dakota Towler. She is also survived by two brothers, James B. Drinkard, Jr. , E.M. ?Jim? Drinkard and one sister, Marian Martin. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lula Gibson, Sarah Wayne and Elizabeth Robertson. The family would like to thank all of the staff of Lynchburg Health and Rehab for taking care of our mom during her illness. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. Robert E. Motty officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
