Obituary of Robert Sterling Sandvig

Robert Sandvig, 63, of Lynchburg, died Monday, July 31, 2017 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy J. Sandvig and his father, Caroll Sandvig. Bob married Kathy in 1990 in Lynchburg, VA and the couple made their home in Atlanta, GA. Following Kathy's retirement, they moved to Savannah, GA. Kathy died in 2014 and Bob moved back to Lynchburg. Bob is survived by his mother, Sterling Fay Sandvig Behling; siblings, Eric Sandvig and his wife Wanda, Lynchburg, VA, Greg Sandvig and his wife Carol, Appomattox, VA, Cynthia L Sandvig, Urbanna, VA, Joseph Sandvig, Richmond, VA, Jessica Coada, Kilmarnock, VA; his step-sons, Christopher K. Snider and his wife Ashley, of Savannah, GA, Stephen G. Snider and his wife, Heather of Macon, GA; two step-grandchildren, Anabelle G. Snider and Walker R. Snider; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Shenandoah (AD-26) from 1971-1974. In 1981 he started working for Babcock and Wilcox which later became AREVA until his retirement in 2008. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Diuguid Funeral Service & Crematory Waterlick Chapel (434) 237-2722. Relatives and friends are welcome on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
