Obituary of Kenneth McIntosh

KENNETH HENRY MCINTOSH Kenneth Henry McIntosh, 94, of Lynchburg passed away Friday, May 6, 2011 at Avante at Lynchburg. Born in Madison County, NC on June 8, 1916 he was a son of the late Arthur Harrison McIntosh and Julia Ramsey McIntosh and step mother, Edith McIntosh. Mr. McIntosh is survived by his wife of 72 years, Martha Eleanor Grant McIntosh. He is also survived by nine children, four sons and five daughters, Rosa and Ralph Fitzgerald of Lynchburg, Carolyn and Gary Seamster of Concord, Ellaree Amos of Manteo, NC, Lynda and Randy Burns of Forest, Martha and Charlie Tweedy of Goode, Arthur and Evelyn McIntosh of Madison Heights, Avery McIntosh of Amherst, Ronnie and Janice McIntosh of Amherst, Tony and Sue McIntosh. 26 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 11 great great grand children. He is also survived by two sisters, Gladys Moody and Beatrice Evins both of Conyers, GA. Four half sisters, Mary Watson of Newport News, Aveline Tolly and husband of Lynchburg, Irene Pickeral of Lynchburg Doris Smith of NC. A half brother, Glen Dale McIntosh of Ashville, NC. Mr. McIntosh was preceded in death by a son, Raymond James McIntosh, two grandsons, Bryan Tweedy and Dennis Darrell McKinney. One great grandson, A.J. Emmitt, One sister, Geneua Buckner and four brothers, Floyd, Grady, Earnest and Bernie McIntosh. A half brother, Billy Gene McIntosh. A son-in-law, Russell Amos who was Kenneth?s ginseng hunting buddy for years. He loved hunting and fishing with his sons and was a member of Eastbrook Baptist Church. In 1953 Mr. McIntosh moved his family from SC. to grow tobacco and farm in VA. He found out real soon that wasn?t for him so he started building houses and doing carpenter work. He also worked at Truck Body a few years. Mr. McIntosh was a great family man, he loved his wife and his family and will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Kenneth?s Life and Faith will be held 2:00 PM Monday, May 9, 2011 at Diuguid Wiggington Chapel with Pastor Monty Fox officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Rosa and Ralph Fitzgerald, 3516 Round Hill Rd., Lynchburg, Va. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Odd Fellows Home.
