Obituary of Roger Kreft

Roger Lawrence Kreft, 73, of Lynchburg and formerly of Bradenton, Fl. Passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2011 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Anastasia ?Ann? Kreft for 30 years. Born May 16, 1938, in Des Plaines, IL, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Viola Langhorst Kreft. He was retired manager of Mid- Atlantic AAA Auto Club after 35 years of service. He held several part-time jobs after retirement, including, Diuguid Funeral Service, Premier Limousine Service and Old Saint Nick for River Ridge Mall and was a volunteer at Lynchburg General Hospital. Roger loved camping and was the past president and long time member of the Seven Hills RV Club. He also loved NASCAR racing, and especially his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. He was the former congregational president of Hope Lutheran Church in Bradenton, Fl for 14 consecutive years. He was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lynchburg, where he served as an Elder for a number of years. He served our country in the United States Navy and was a photographer on the Navy press team for President Dwight Eisenhower and Vice-President Richard Nixon. In addition to his wife, Ann, Roger is survived by one son, Steven Kreft and his wife Dawn of Cary, IL; three daughters, Debra Kreft and Tamara Kreft , both of Bradenton, Fl and Annette Raymond and her husband, Phillip, of St. Petersburg, F; two sisters, Karen Randolph and her husband Charles ?Chuck? of Silver Spring IL ,Nancy Farinosi and her husband Daniel of Hoffman Estates, IL; one-step-son, Richard Guyette and his wife, Tracey, of Yuma, AZ and one step-daughter Ruth Guyette of Deerfield, NH; a brother-in-law, Gregory Magaritis and four sisters-in-law, Harriet Launier, Georgia Margaritis, Leona Jean and Cassandra Margaritis; many loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren , nieces and nephews. He is also survived by very special friends and companions, his dog, ?Duchess? and his cat ?Buddy?. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Brandi Widner and Nicole Saunders. A celebration of Roger?s life and faith will be held Monday, May 30, 2011 at 11:00 AM in Our Savior Lutheran Church with the Rev. Joel Wallschlaeger and Rev. Norm Johnson officiating. Military honors will be provided by American Legion ?Post 16. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place at a later date in Bradenton, Fl.
