Obituary of William Viar

William Russell Viar, 91, of Lynchburg passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the Medical Care Center. Born November 26, 1919 in Riverville, Va ( Amherst County ), he was a son of the late William Matthew and Rosa Ragland Viar. He proudly served our country in the United States Army during World War II and a member of the former Madison Heights Methodist Church (now Amelon United Methodist Church). He is survived by one brother, Charles Emmitt Viar and his wife, Marion, and a nephew, William Holdren, all of Lynchburg. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Bessie Viar Mays and Mamie Viar Holdren. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 11:00 am in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8 at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion ?Post 16, 1301 Greenview Drive, Lynchbrug, VA 24502.
