Obituary of Vaida Shelton

Vaida Horsley Shelton, 95, Washington, DC and formerly of Lynchburg, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011 in Fox Chase Nursing Home in Silver Spring, MD. She was the widow of Edgar Roosevelt Shelton. Born December 2, 1915 in Appomattox County, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Lillian Marsh Horsley. She was a long time member of Flat Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by one granddaughter, Lisa Tucker and her partner Vincent Matteoni, of Washington, DC and one sister, Lillian Linn of Lynchburg, VA , one brother, Benjamin Horsley also of Lynchburg and many nieces and nephews.. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Shelton Tucker. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 2:00 PM in Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Lawrence Tucker officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Washington Hospital Center- Medical House Call Program, 110 Irving St., N.W., Washington, DC 20010.
