Obituary of Aubrey Simpson

Aubrey Nelson Simpson was born January 20, 1933 and died August 30, 2011. He was born in Roanoke to the late Omer C. and Mary G. Simpson and was preceded in death by two sisters, Cornelia S. Manning and Gaynell S. Harris; two brothers, Francis D. Simpson and Vinson B. Simpson; two sisters-in-law, Mary Simpson and Lesta Simpson, and a niece, Patsy S. Franklin. Nelson graduated from VPI, and was a United States Air Force veteran, and retired co-owner of Whitescarver Engineering Inc. Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Charlene Marsh Simpson, two step-daughters, Page Coleman and Ellen Coleman; grandchildren Ashlinne Watkins, Lianna Watkins ( and their daddy, Jerry Watkins), Camdyn Smith, Caleb Smith and Xander Coleman. Nelson is also survived by his sister, Lorene Preas; brother, O.C. Simpson Jr.; sisters-in-law, Mary Simpson and Betty Marsh; brother-in-law, Charlie Harris, Aunt Harriet Grisso and a host of adoring nieces and nephews, as well as many devoted friends, neighbors and caregivers. A memorial service will be conducted by the Reverend C. Nelson Harris, and Bishop Cindy Simpson Thursday at 11:00 AM at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel.
