Obituary of Bettie Pollard

Bettie Netherland Farrar Pollard, 101, of Lynchburg passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born in Rockfish, Va. she was a daughter of the late John Jacob Farrar and Emma Lena Wood Farrar and was the widow of Cleylon Cage Pollard. Mrs. Pollard was a retired auditor for the Cradock Terry Shoe Co. and was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. She is survived by two nieces, Barbara F. Mayne and her husband, Robert of Evington and Jean Farrar Bingham of Forest. Three great nieces, Debbie Ziroka (Tom) of Laplata, MD, Lisa Stone (Jeffrey) of Forest, Sara Anthony (Scott) of Roanoke and Christina Bingham of Forest. Two great nephews, Matthew Bingham of Richmond and Michael Bingham of Tuscaloosa, AL. Four great great nieces, four great great nephews and a special great great nephew Calvin Anthony of Roanoke. She is also survived by a lifelong friend, Jean Harris. She preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Marsh and Ruth Arthur and a brother, John Farrar. In honor of Bettie?s wonderful giving nature, consider doing an act of kindness in some way for one another and also let?s give thanks for the many wonderful acts of love she showed to her church family and her family at Valley View. A Celebration of Bettie?s Life and Faith will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 23, 2011 at Pleasant View Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ricky Ewing officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church, 19278 Forest Rd., Lynchburg, VA. 24502.
