Obituary of Anne Bruce

ANNE CATHERINE BRUCE Anne Catherine Bruce of Rockville, MD died Monday, October 10, 2011 at her Residence. Miss Bruce was born in Lynchburg, the daughter of the late Della Plunkett Bruce and Charles Ambroce Bruce. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles A. Bruce, Jr. of Falls Church and her sisters, Jeanne H. Bruce of Rockville and Della B. Schrader of Lynchburg. She was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School, received her bachelor?s degree from Lynchburg College and her master?s degree from the University of Maryland. While in Lynchburg, she was a member of St. Paul?s Episcopal Church. After teaching at Frank Roane School in Lynchburg, Miss Bruce moved to Montgomery County, MD where she taught at Twin Brook and Hungerford Elementary Schools. She was assistant principal at Ashburton Elementary School and was principal of Woodfield Elementary School for 23 ½ years. She retired from Montgomery Country Public Schools in 1994. Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Carolyn S. Webber, Marilyn S. Ashworth and husband, Terry, George W. Schrader and wife, Elizabeth, Charles S. Schrader and wife, Linda and Beverly S. Hall and husband, Greg. 10 great nieces and nephews, 3 great-great nieces and 5 great-great nephews. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 15, 2011 in the Presbyterian Cemetery with Chaplain Wayne Lanham officiating.
