Obituary of William Garner

William Thomas ?Tom? Garner, 85, of Boonsboro died Wednesday October 19, 2011 after a short illness. Tom was born on January 1, 1926 in Lynchburg. He was a son of the late Arthur Garner and Mary Starr Garner. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert L. Garner. Tom proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II, taking part in the D-Day Invasion and later served in Hong Kong. He loved birds and flowers, animals of all kinds and was a master fly fisherman and shot. He managed Howard Johnson?s Restaurant in Lynchburg for 28 years. Tom is survived by his loving and caring wife of 59 years, Janet W. Garner and by 4 daughters, Mary Katherine Kidd and her husband, Gene of Lynchburg, Robin G. Sheppa and her husband, John of Columbus, OH., Beverly L. Garner of Coleman Falls and Bonnie L. Garner of New York City. Tom is also survived by four wonderful grandchildren, Martha Kidd, Carolyn Kidd, Jeanette Sheppa and Garner Sheppa. A sister-in-law, Mary Garner of Lynchburg and by numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Tom?s Life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
