Betty Jean Elliott Almond Betty Jean Elliott Almond, 73, of Evington, died Saturday November 19, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital after a short battle with Acute Leukemia She was the wife of L.W. ?Buck? Almond. Born February 24, 1938, in Lynchburg she was the daughter of the late Frank Phillip and Maude Morris Elliott. She was a member of Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church and retired from GE/Ericcson after 38 years of service. Betty was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvah P. Elliott and Frank ?Mark? Elliott. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Stacey A. Christian and her husband Jeffrey L. Christian, of Evington and one sister Catherine Reynolds and her husband Ed. She also leaves behind her little K-9 boy, Festus. A celebration of Betty?s life and faith will be held, Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. Michael Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 pm prior to the service and other times at the residence of her daughter. Interment will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center or the Humane Society. The family would like to thank Dr. Oldham and Dr. Hardison, along with their staff, for their kindness and care. Diuguid Funeral Service & Crematory-Waterlick Chapel, 237-2722, is serving the family.
