I worked with Dr. Burger when I first got out of Nursing school in 1981 and worked Oncology until 1995. He was a wonderful, wonderful person - a great Doctor, a great teacher. I admired him so much, and he was so patient and good to me as a new nurse. He will be missed.

Dr Burger was one of the most compassionate physicians that I have ever known. I began my Oncology Nursing career on First Mundy at VBH about 30 years ago. His compassion for his patients and care and concern for the Nursing staff was exemplary. His passion for Oncology made him such a Mentor to all of us, and I can truly say that my life and career was blessed having known him.He also took a special interest my husband as he is also a RMC alum. We live in Salem, and occasionally saw Dr Burger at the ODAC tournaments...cheering on his Yellow Jackets! Our thoughts and prayers are with the Burger family at this difficult time.

Dear Burger Family:My sister, Peggy Ashwell, worked at Dr. Burger's office and I met him through her. When he later moved to Thomson Drive I worked for Drs. Barney & Howard and knew him since our office wsa underneath his. He was one of the most pleasant men I had the pleasure of knowing and his caring and concern for his patients was very obvious. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere condolences to you and your family for your loss. You will be in my prayers.
