Obituary of Barbara Shaner

Barbara Ewers Shaner, 78, of Lynchburg, departed this life, Sunday, January 22, 2012 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Clyde Edwin Shaner. Born July 28, 1933 in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Ballard M. and Doris Knight Ewers. She was previously employed as a private Certified Nursing Assistant, assisting a number of residents at Westminster-Canterbury. She was a member of Rivermont Ave. Baptist Church, where she taught children?s Sunday School for many years. She is survived by three daughters, Karen Wheat and her husband, Cecil, of Fredericksburg, VA, Laura Reynolds and her husband Marvin of Lynchburg, VA, and Brenda Brown and her husband, Charlie of Hampstead, NC; six grandchildren, John Wheat, Martha Wheat, Elizabeth Cox, Edwin Reynolds, Ethan Reynolds and Christopher Brown; two great-grandchildren, Landon Cox and James Cox. She was preceded in death by one brother, Ballard M. Ewers, Jr. and two sisters, Jean Irvin and Betty Coakley. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Dan G. Mason officiating.
