Obituary of Hiram Charlton

Hiram (Shorty) Burnett Charlton, 90, of Lynchburg passed away Monday, February 20, 2012 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. Born in Montgomery County, VA on June 3, 1921 he was a son of the late Hiram B. Charlton and Virginia Snider Hilton Charlton, the step son of the late Claude H. Hilton and was the husband of June Bailey Charlton of Lynchburg. Mr. Charlton served his country during WW II in the U.S. Army having attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a retired Life Insurance Agent, a member of Life Underwriters and Campbell Avenue Baptist Church. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Kenneth B. Charlton and his wife, Linda of Lynchburg. A granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Charlton. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Michael Charlton and a brother, Curtis S. Charlton. A Celebration of Shorty?s life will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Reed Ness officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
