Obituary of Dorothy Loyd

DOROTHY BROWN LOYD Dorothy Brown Loyd, 86, of Lynchburg passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012 at her residence. Born in Madison Heights on October 27, 1925 she was a daughter of the late James Edward and Janie Agee Brown and was the wife of Richard Carol Loyd for 58 years. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Loyd is survived by two sons, Richard Carol Loyd, Jr. and David Burton Loyd (Sue). Three daughters, Anne Elmore (Bob), Laura Sattenfield (Charlie) and Nancy Tsoleas (Mike). Five grandchildren, Jessica Anne Loyd, Robert Aston Loyd, Taylor Nicole Tsoleas, Travis Robert Elmore and Nicholas Richard Tsoleas. Mrs. Loyd was a longtime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, an avid bridge player and cross word puzzle enthusiast. She was also a long time volunteer at Virginia Baptist Hospital and Meals on Wheels. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Holy Cross Catholic Church 11:30 AM Wednesday, May 2, 2012 with Father Kenneth Rush officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the Mass in the church commons. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations in Dorothy?s name to Meals on Wheels or the American Cancer Society.
