Obituary of Dorothy Walton

Dorothy "Dot" Dudley Walton 77, passed away Tuesday, May, 1, 2012 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was born Christmas Day 1934 in Durham NC. She was the daughter of the late Harry Wilson & Mary Falwell Dudley. She was preceded in death by a son Kenneth Scott Walton, a brother Dennis Dudley and a sister in law Ruth Dudley. Surviving are a daughter Kelly Marie Walton and Grand dog Hannah. Also surviving are a niece Kim Meade, husband William Meade and two grand- nieces Whitney & Karley of Evington. A nephew Conrad Dudley and wife Netta and two grandnephews Chase & Josh of Lynchburg. A niece Kathy McCann and husband Michael, two grandnephews Matthew & Jake of Sydney Australia. Some very special cousins and MANY close friends. Dot was a wonderful mother, an outgoing, friendly person who never met a stranger. She graduated from E.C. Glass in 1953 then went to work for C&P Telephone Co. as a long distance operator and was there when the office closed in 1978. She then went to work for Lynchburg General Hospital as their switchboard operator and retired from there after 31 years. A special thanks go out to her wonderful team of Doctors, Dr. Lockridge, Dr. Nygaard, Dr. Khoury, and recently Dr. Oldham. They took very special care of her over the years. A celebration of Dot?s life will take place Friday May 4, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Lanham and Rev. Dan G. Mason officiating. A reception and visitation will follow at the funeral home. Diuguid Funeral Service & Crematory-Waterlick Chapel, 237-2722, is serving the family.
