Obituary of Earl Driskill

Earl Rucker Driskill, 88, of Lynchburg died May 9, 2012 at his residence. Earl was born June 17, 1923 in Lynchburg, the son of the late Randolph and Nellie Driskill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Margaret Driskill Franklin and brothers, Robert Driskill, Ronald Driskill and Ray Driskill. Earl was a 1941 graduate of E.C. Glass High School and served in the US Army in World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was a career employee of Appalachian Power Company in Lynchburg, retiring in 1988 after 47 years of service. He was an active member of the Church of the Brethren in Lynchburg. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge. As a lifelong resident of Lynchburg, Earl lived a full life, staying active with his family. He really enjoyed dancing, fishing, a good plate of food and a good drink. He is survived by two sons, Buddy Driskill and his wife, Sandy of Evington and Randy Driskill of Pleasant View. Grandchildren, Jason Driskill and his wife, Kim of Madison Heights, Allison Deaton and her husband, David, Neil Driskill, Scott Franklin and his wife, Jennifer, Lindsey Johnson and her husband, Kevin of Raleigh, NC. and Jill Conner of Madison Heights. Great grandchildren, Tyler Deaton, Nathan Deaton, Carter Deaton, Maggie Johnson, Emmerson Johnson, Tyler Franklin and Helena Franklin both of Raleigh, NC.,Alyssa Conner and Ayden Conner both of Madison Heights. Brother, Lewis Driskill and his wife, Joretta of Lynchburg, Sister, Nancy Johnson and her husband, Eagle of Forest, son-in-law, Earl H. Franklin of Penhook and a special friend Agnes Vaughan of Danville. A Celebration of Earl?s Life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. Jack Karpenske officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 16. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday, May 11, 2012 at the funeral home.
