Obituary of Alice Boyd

Alice Woolfolk Boyd, 74, of Forest, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012 at her home. She was the wife of Arthur Wayne ?Doot? Boyd, Sr. Born December 13, 1937 in Louisa, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Robert Kent Woolfolk and Ann Keyser Woolfolk. She was a charter member of Timberlake Christian Church where she previously served as a deaconess. She attended Lynchburg College and was a homemaker. In addition to her husband ?Doot?, she is survived by one daughter, Ann Dooley Hicks and her husband, John, of Lynchburg; two sons: Dr. Robert Kent Dooley and his wife, Florence, of Richmond, VA and Steven Lee. Dooley of Fort Lauderdale, FL; four grandchildren, Ashlee Hicks of Blacksburg, Maggie Dooley , Mac Dooley and Mason Dooley all of Richmond; three step-children, Wayne Boyd of Louisa, Susan B. Colvin and her husband, Jeff, of Gordonsville and Neil Boyd and his wife, Toni, of Richmond; two step-grandchildren, Jeffrey Colvin and Leanne Colvin. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Lucy Woolfolk Marshall. Those who knew Alice, knew that she loved her many friendships and ?tennis buddies?, and was a devoted grandmother who cherished spending time with her grandchildren. A celebration of Alice?s life and faith will be held Tuesday , July 10, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Timberlake Christian Church with the Rev. Bob Mooty officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately after the service. A graveside service will held Wednesday at 1:00 PM at Spring Grove Memorial Cemetery in Mineral, VA.
