Obituary of Roxie Kitchen

Roxie Sims Kitchen, 83, of Lynchburg passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012 at The Carrington. Born in Bedford County on May 9, 1929 she was a daughter of the late Alex Joshua Sims and Permila Callahan Sims and was the wife of Benjamin Franklin Kitchen. Mrs. Kitchen was retired from the Hercules Company and was a member of Terrace View Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, Benjamin, she is survived by a special niece, Sandra Robertson and her husband, Ronnie of Forest. A step-daughter, Linda Hughes and her husband, Harry of Lynchburg. A sister, Lillian Gilchrist of Lynchburg. Three step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. A Celebration of Roxie?s life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Terrace View Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Friday at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel and at other times at the home of Sandra and Ronnie Robertson, 1078 Majestic Oaks Dr., Forest, Va. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Terrace View Baptist Church or to the Alzheimer?s Association.
