Obituary of Cecil Stanley

Cecil Carter Stanley, 71, of Lynchburg passed away Monday, July 23, 2012 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. Born in Bedford County on December 31, 1940 he was a son of the late Paul Pleasant Stanley and Rosie Carter Stanly and was the husband of Dorothy Wilson Stanley. Mr. Stanley was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of Timberlake Baptist Church and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by a daughter, Karla S. Coleman and her husband, Chris of Maryland. A son, Brian D. Stanley and his wife, Christy of Forest. Three brothers, Kenneth Stanley and his wife, Doris, Roger Stanley and his wife, Brenda and David Stanley and his wife, Martha all of Bedford. Six grandchildren, Matthew, Jonah and Aaron Stanley and Derek, Brett and Anna Gay. A great grandchild, Cali Gay. Cecil loved his family and friends and would do anything for them. A Celebration of Cecil?s life will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Virginia Memorial Park with Pastor Richard W. Jett officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel. A reception for family and friends will take place at the Koffee Kup, Timberlake Rd., following the service at the cemetery. Any food may be delivered to the Koffee Kup prior to the service.
