Obituary of Edward Martin

Edward Royal Martin, 85, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of Doris Newman Martin for 52 years. Born February 22, 1927 in Goode, Virginia, he was a son of the late Guy William Martin and Madeline Abbott Martin. He was a retired heavy equipment mechanic and later from Griffin Pipe Company. He attended Marsh Memorial United Methodist Church and served in the United States Army during World War II. In addition to his wife, Doris, he is survived by one son, Edward Royal Martin, Jr. and his wife, Caroline, of New Mexico; two daughters, Vicky Martin Overstreet and her husband, Jerry, of Lynchburg, Lori Jean Martin of North Carolina; one sister, Lucita Stowe and her husband, Joell, of Winchester,VA; three grandchildren, J.W. Overstreet, Danielle Martin and Sarah Martin; one step-grandchild, Kimberly Martin; his special friend, ?Leo?, the cat. A graveside service will be held Monday, August 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Liz Ecklund officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 PM .
