Obituary of Alma Miles

Alma Cox Miles, 88, of Evington passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Avante at Lynchburg. Born in Campbell County on December 16, 1923 she was a daughter of the late Albert F. Cox and Robina Hall Cox and was the widow of Lewis Miles. Mrs. Miles was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star, Chapter 23, in Rustburg. She was retired from the Altavista Weaving Co. She is survived by a nephew, Albert Callahan and his wife, Valerie of Evington. A niece, Catherine Dennison and her husband, Bruce of Troy. A great nephew, Eric Callahan and a great niece, Kimberly Callahan both of Evington. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four brothers, Herbert Lloyd ?Chubby? Cox, Ellis Wooden Cox, Aubrey Haden Cox and Albert Wilmer Cox and a sister, Thelma Cox Callahan. A Celebration of Alma?s Life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Schooler officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Saturday at the Church.
