Obituary of Roy Ogden

Roy Landon Ogden, 84, of Lynchburg, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley Rebecca Phillips Ogden for 61 years. Born June 18, 1928 in Amherst County, he was a son of the late Maywell and Myrene Ogden. He retired twice, first from Lynchburg Foundry as an Electrician Supervisor and later from Armstrong Electric. He was a member of Marsh Memorial United Methodist Church and served our country in the United States Navy from 1948-1951. He is survived by three sons, Gary Ogden and his wife, Jackie, of Savannah, GA, Darrell Ogden and his wife, Lisa, of Lynchburg and Jeff Ogden of Sumpter, SC; five grandchildren, Jamie Ogden, Jon Ogden, Stacy Ogden, Joycelin Ogden and Linda Ogden. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilmer Ogden and Melvin Ogden and one sister Elsie O. Mays. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. Liz Ecklund officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
