Obituary of Carlton Foster

Carlton ?Carl? Hoyt Foster, Sr., 85, of Lynchburg, died peacefully in his sleep, Sunday, October 28, 2012. He was the husband of the late Catherine Gaines Foster for 54 years. Born March 12, 1927 in Phenix, VA, he was a son of the late Shelton Hoyt and Ruth Milton Foster. Carl was a graduate of Randolph Henry High School in Charlotte County and served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. LST-622 during World War-II. He was a member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church. Carl was known for the great love he had for his family. He also enjoyed camping and fishing. He worked for G.C. Murphy Company for over 35 years. He is survived by his daughter, Connie Coleman and her husband, Tom, of Jacksonville, NC; two sons, Carlton Hoyt Foster, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Alexandria, VA and Curtis Allen Foster and his wife, Kay, of Forest; twelve grandchildren, Allison Foster, Matthew Foster, Chris Foster, Casey Foster, Jackie Blake, Suzanne Foster, Tommy Coleman, Greg Coleman, Yuki Harvey, Heather Morehead, Kara Coleman and Mike Coleman; 16 great-grandchildren; three brothers, M.K. ?Buck? Foster, Keith Foster and John Foster; four sisters, Edith Pollard, Ester Roach, Marian Huffman and Doris Claybrook. He was preceded in death by two brothers, David Foster and Bruce Foster. A celebration of Carl?s life and faith will be held Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. James D. Newman officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Carl will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
