Obituary of Mable Coffey

Mable DeWitt Coffey, 87, of Lynchburg passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Oaks of Lynchburg. Born in Forest on April 26, 1925. She was the daughter of the late John S. DeWitt and Ossie Mae Abbott DeWitt and was the widow of Roy Ellis Coffey. Mrs. Coffey was a graduate of New London Academy. A member of Centenary United Methodist Church for 60 years and a charter member of the XI XI chapter of Beta Sigma Phi for over 50 years. She was a retired sales and fashion associate for Miller and Rhoads. A member of the Womans Club. After retirement she continued to work at the Angel and the Lamb, a childrens boutique. She was a matriarch and oldest neighbor on N. Princeton Cir. With charm, grace and southern hospitality, she never met a stranger. She was known as an elegant lady and was happiest when decorating her home and tending her garden. She was adored by many, especially her three girls. She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Coffey Sager of Myrtle Beach, Sandra Coffey McDaniel and her husband Hill and Deborah Coffey Farmer and her husband Robert all of Lynchburg. Three grandchildren, Mary Margaret McDaniel Prange and her husband Trent of Alexandria, Brian DeWitt Sager and his wife Lori of Denver Co. and Sarah Abbott Farmer of Baltimore, MD. Two great granddaughters, Ayden Wyatt Sager and Abigail Elizabeth Sager. She is also survived by her grand dog, Tucker and her great grand dog, Lucy. A visitation will be held at Diuguid Funeral Service and Crematory at 811 Wiggington Road, Lynchburg, VA, 24502 on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 2-4pm. Funeral will be held 1:00 PM Monday, January 7, 2013 at the funeral home. Internment will be at Virginia Memorial Park in Forest, VA.
